Bungotakada city farm stay guide

Green Tourism in Japan

Green Tourism in Japan refers to tours providing the opportunity to stay in an agricultural, mountain or fishing village, where travellers can enjoy a holiday face-to-face with the attractive natural environment and culture of Japan, engaging in hands-on experiences in agricultural and fishing communities as well as interacting with local inhabitants. Japan is blessed with four seasons and those seasons provide “climates” in each of the regions of Japan that have nurtured unique traditions, culture and lifestyles. There are also specific “seasons” in each region where the local produce tastes its best or the scenery is at its most splendid and Japanese people have come to make the most out of those seasons. Urban areas may have increased in Japan, but the unique climates and seasons remain in the lifestyles of the agricultural, mountain and fishing villages of Japan. Green tourism that visits these locations can truly be said to be a journey through which travelers can experience the real Japan to the fullest.

It was my first time to go and pick up shitake in Japan. It was a nice experience because I had chance to be close with the forest and nature. When I started picking up shitake I was always searching for the big once. Everyone was so eager to find big shitake so that they can show to everyone.

“Holiday accommodations where guests can engage in exchange with agricultural and fishing communities in Japan: Rural minshuku”
Rural minshuku are holiday accommodations where you can meet people directly involved in the agricultural and fishing industries and stay in their homes and communities.
These accommodations are available around the country and many are in actual fact traditional Japanese-style homes that have been restored.
Many of these minshuku have an accommodation pricing system that includes breakfast and dinner, a culinary experience that enables the traveler to taste the fresh, local produce of that particular community.
